On a blustery day in the depths of January a strange effigy floated into Silent City Studios to document the continuation of an idiom. Then and there, before a microphone this enigma spun a yarn that will weave itself into the already vast tapestry of sounds that we call the ‘blues’.
Scott Wainwright has been collecting, with magpie like intensity, the echoes of the ghosts that set in motion sounds that have informed many generations of blues musicians.
These ‘ghosts’ have been trapped in their Shellac prisons for many years now, but we have heard their songs, calling us siren like, beckoning us to look on a time that has passed us all by.
Much like these long gone souls once did, Scott Wainwright has sat down before a microphone armed only with his guitar, and Voice to commit to wax the songs he has found floating around him, trapping them in an audio format, to forever speak to us.
No studio gimmicks here, no flash in the pan edits, just the songs as they exited the man. They have the messages which some will want to hear and they have the rhythms that some will want to feel.
